40 YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO BLUEHUB

Dick Jones was BlueHub’s first employee. Since 1985, he has been a key member of our leadership team, serving in a range of roles as we grew over the decades, like Fund Manager, Executive Director, Chief Operating Officer and President of BlueHub Energy, among many other unofficial titles. Yet, throughout that time there has been a consistent thread: Dick has been an innovator in expanding the impact of CDFIs. He has worked tirelessly to ensure that the CDFI industry stays focused on building not just cost-effective housing, but housing that is sustainable, durable and healthy for the residents. As a founding member of the Opportunity Finance Network, co-founder of WegoWise, and a driving force behind making solar energy available to the communities we serve, Dick has made sure that BlueHub is always at the forefront of sustainable innovation. With profound gratitude upon his retirement, we celebrate Dick’s enduring legacy, transformative contributions and unwavering dedication to shaping a better future.

“I’ve had the privilege of working alongside some of the smartest, most passionate people for decades. This isn’t just a job — it’s been a life’s work. And I wouldn’t trade a single moment of it.”

19 YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO BLUEHUB

Lisa Zappala, our former Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and current Executive Vice President of Finance, has been core to BlueHub’s growth and stability since she joined us in 2005. With a broad purview, she helmed our capital strategy, financial management and planning, and played a leading role in the growth of our nonprofit. In Lisa’s 19 years at BlueHub, our assets under management grew from $50 million to $1.6 billion — an astounding 3,100%. One of her crowning achievements was securing multiple public bond issuances totaling $161.6 million — funding that propelled the Loan Fund’s lending and reach. With heartfelt appreciation upon her retirement, we recognize Lisa’s outstanding contributions to BlueHub’s success, growth and transformative impact on low-income communities.

“When I started, I was just working five to ten hours a week. But as we grew, the work expanded — and so did the vision. The most rewarding part was seeing businesses become self-sufficient and making a lasting impact.”

Our first CIO, Monica has spent her career driving technology transformation within nonprofit and advocacy organizations. Monica joined BlueHub in October 2024. She brings extensive experience in developing and implementing tactical IT and security leadership strategies. A crucial member of the executive leadership team, she focuses on developing and implementing a comprehensive IT vision and strategy while advancing our technological portfolio. Among other tactics, Monica will enhance the reporting of key performance indicators across our nonprofit programs and explore how AI can improve workflows.
